Dapoli is a pleasant and quaint little tourist beach place that everyone loves. Being located on the beach with serene atmosphere and natural beauty on all the sides, Dapoli happens to be the favorite spot for the tourists from the metros like Mumbai, Pune, etc. With the large Arabian Sea to its west, Dapoli is a perfect vacation destination all the year round. The greenery is worth admiring and worth visiting with various kinds of orchards including Mango, jackfruit, cashew nut, betel nut plantations, and tourist love to take a walk amongst these trees and have fun plucking one right from the trees.
In Dapoli, you can visit various points of attractions where the beach provides unending joy, activities and points of interest. The beaches are un-spoilt by urbanization and untouched too. How to reach
Reaching Dapoli is quite easy. All you have to plan is which mode of transport will be convenient for your travel. You can reach Dapoli by all the routes, so it is not difficult.
Air – The nearest airport is in Ratnagiri. There are regular flights from Mumbai and Pune and other cities. From here you can hire a taxi or hop on the private or public bus and reach Dapoli.
Railway – The nearest railway station is at Khed. It is located 27 km away from Dapoli. From here you can take the road and travel by taxi or bus.
Road – You can take the NH17 route that is the Mumbai – Goa route and reach Dapoli, which is easy. There are other ways as well. From Pune, you can take the Bhor route and from Kolhapur, you can take the Chiplun route.
Best time to visit
Visiting Dapoli is preferred during the month from November to February. When the monsoons have retreated, and the summer is about to begin, the period is the best one to visit.
Summer season – The summers here are hot and humid it is almost impossible for sightseeing activities. The temperature ranges from 22 degree Celsius to 40 or more degree Celsius. Summer here begins in March and ends in May.
Monsoons – Monsoons bring relief to the land after the scorching sun has been left behind. Monsoons begin in June and end by October. The period is also considered best as many want to visit the beaches during monsoons to experience the heavy rainfall and enjoy the beautiful weather.
Winter – Winters are the best months to visit Dapoli as you can find the atmosphere very pleasant and charming with a cool breeze and the temperature ranges from 12 degree Celsius to 32 degree Celsius. The winters begin in November till February.

There are a majority of Hindu temples in Dapoli followed by Muslims and later by other religions. There are various temples, which you can visit during your stay here. The Durga Devi temple in Murud is dedicated to Goddess Durga and is the main attraction here. The Kadyavarcha Ganpati temple in Anjarle is another tourist attraction which is located on a hill that provides a panoramic view of the sea and the valley below. The other temples here are the Shree Bhargav ram temple, Shree Keshavraj Temple, and the Vyaghreshwar Temple, etc.

Historical

Dapoli has a rich history, and that is the reason why you find so many historical structures here. The Suvarnadurg Fort is considered an important fort by the Maratha rulers. It has played a very important part in history. The fort is in the inland near the Harnai beach. One can reach only by the boat. The Kanakdurga fort is also important but lies in ruins. Here you can see the lighthouse. The other forts are the Himmatgarh and Mandangad.

* Panhalekaji – this is an interesting spot and regularly visited by tourists. Here you can find the Buddhist caves where you can find as many as 29 caves that belong to the Buddhist and Hindu religion. If you are a history buff, you will definitely love the caves as there are many interesting facts along with structures and statues.
* Unhavare – Unhavare is another interesting spot where you find hot springs that is said to cure skin ailments. They are quite clean as there is no tourists rush over here.
