Best Time to Visit

Barring the months of monsoon, you can visit Kashid anytime of the year. The weather is usually pleasant with a moderate temperature of 26  on an average.

Summer: Summers are hot, and it sees the rise in temperature from the month of March and continuous till the onset of monsoon in the month of June. The moderate temperature during this time is usually around 32  with the highest temperature reaching till 40 . Even though the temperatures are warm, many people come during this time to bathe in the sea.

Monsoon: Just like the remaining parts of the state, Kashid experiences rainfall from the months of June to September.  Rainfalls are considerably heavy, which brings down the soaring temperature to 20  -24 . The sea is unfit and rough during these days, and hence, it is not the best time to visit the beach.

Winter: Winters in Kashid are cool and pleasant with cooler temperatures being experienced from November to February. Plenty of tourists visit during this time when the average temperature ranges around 20 . December and January are usually cooler than other months when it may get little difficult to take a dip in the sea.

How to Reach

Kashid being the weekend holiday destination is well connected with Mumbai and Pune. As Mumbai and Pune have the major airports, it is very convenient to fly in from any part of the world.

Air

At 140km from Kashid is Mumbai, which is the nearest international airport. Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport of Mumbai is well connected with major cities of the country with all major airlines providing their services. Pune is another nearby city which also serves you with an airport. From the airport, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to Kashid.

Roads

State-owned transport, as well as private buses, runs between Kashid and major cities. About 160km from Mumbai, it takes about 3-4 hours of journey to reach to Kashid. Direct and frequent buses run from Alibaug, Pune, Mumbai, Kolad, and Murud-Janjira to Kashid. Although there are State transport buses plying on the route, many tourists find it convenient to get their own vehicle as it is easy to get around the tourist spots.

Railways

On the Konkan railway lays the Roha station at a distance of 122km from Kashid, which is the closest railway station. You can get on a train journey from your town to Roha and then continue your further journey by bus or taxi.

Sea

Another way of reaching Kashid beach is by taking the ferry boats from Mumbai to Mandwa beach. From here there are buses taking you to Alibaug from where you can take a rickshaw to continue your journey towards Kashid.

Although Kashid is mainly popular for its beach, many localities and villagers from nearby villages come to the Ganpati temple and Birla temple for worshiping.

Parks and Wildlife

Amidst nature along the drive to Murud from Kashid lies the Phansad Wildlife Sanctuary. If you want to add flavor to your beach vacation, you can plan to visit this sanctuary for a delightful experience through the jungle trails. It is a home to several bird species, butterflies, insects and reptiles along with leopards, deer, and sambar. The main attraction here is the Giant Indian Squirrel. There are more than 700 types of species of plants which even include medicinal plants.

Splash in the clear waters and simply relax on the white sands of the Kashid beach! The beach is perfect for surfing in the waters with waves, soaring as high as six feet almost throughout the year. This place is famous to have spotted dolphins during the months of November to January. As the beach still remains primarily unexplored, it has clear blue waters and clean sands that make it one of the best beaches of Maharashtra. The coastal town of Alibaug is connected to this beach town of Kashid, which is open to explore by the tourists in their spare time.

Historical

The Korlai fort is a tourist spot now, which was built in 1521 by Nizamshah of Ahmednagar during the fight between Mughals and Portuguese to control this area and sea trade. The fort offers amazing views of the Revdanda creek and the Korlai village. The Phansad Sanctuary has historical significance as well since it was used as hunting grounds by Sindhi Nawab of Janjira state. He built roads and waterbodies within the sanctuary for which several villages in and around were evacuated. Murud Janjira fort, located at a distance of 21 km was built amidst the Arabian Sea. The fort is well known for the canons and was built to protect from the pirates.

You can entice your taste buds with different cuisines when holidaying in Kashid. Although most places will serve you North Indian and South Indian cuisine, you can enjoy some authentic mouthwatering varieties of Konkani and Maharashtrian cuisine. Kombadi-Wade, Sol Kadhi, jackfruit bhaji, Ambole and crispy fried Bombay duck fish are some of the delicacies that you must relish here. The regular varieties of Maharashtrian cuisine such as Vada Pav, Misal, Kanda Bhaji, and Pohe will be available at most of the restaurants.
