Mumbai (previously called as Bombay) is the capital city of Maharashtra which lies on the western coast of India . It is known as the “city or dreams” or “Mayanagri” because the city offers limitless opportunities in every sector. The business sector and the film industry(bollywood) attracts a huge number of Indians as well as people from other countries. Mumbai covers itself with a vast range of cultural variations, traditions, festivals , entertainment, food and so on.

Mumbai incorporates some extremely fascinating tourist attractions that will force you to fall in love with this beautiful city. Let me present some of the most distinguished places in Mumbai which marks the city.

Marine Drive- It is one of the best places in Mumbai to enjoy sunrises and sunsets. Early mornings and evenings are the perfect times to enjoy the wonderful view . The place turns more mesmerizing during the night when the entire place glows up by lights. It is called the Queens necklace as the area is shaped like a string of a necklace made out of pearls. It extends from Nariman point to babulnath (a total distance of 3km)

Gateway of India- The gateway is one of the most important landmark that defines Mumbai ,constructed in 1924. it is located in Apollo bunder area, Colaba, South Mumbai. The main motive of construction of this beautiful blend of Hindu and Muslim styled architecture was to cherish the Bombay visit of King George V and Queen Mary .It is a significant vacation destination for tourists who show up in India interestingly. Along side the place remains crowded by locals , vendors, photographers etc. The place remains open 7 days a week and does not require entry fee.
Juhu beach- This beach is the longest in Mumbai and attracts tons of tourists because of its view, delicious street foods etc. Also ,numerous big bollywood scenes got shot here because of the scenic beauty of the beach. A lot of film stars reside near the beach which also seems to contribute to the extreme fascination of people about it. Don’t forget to try out the delicacies surrounding the beach . Sunset view from the Juhu beach is something you wont want to miss.

Elephanta caves- The Elephanta Caves are located on the Elephant Island, Gharapuri, Mumbai. It is a World Heritage Site consisting of five cave temples and a few Buddha stupa. The carvings on the caves talks about Hindu mythologies. There are ferries that would take you to the island of the caves charging you around INR. 150 for a two-way trip. Note that it remains closed on Mondays. The entry fees for adult Indian citizens and SAARC countries is INR. 30 per person. While it is INR 500 per person for foreigners and free for children below the age of 15.

Dharavi tour- Mumbai is famous for its slums too. Dharavi is the largest slum in Asia sheltering more than a million people despite having only a 2.1 square km area. There are tourists who desire to see the life in a slum and witness how the people manage to live their lives cheerfully notwithstanding the countless issues in their lives, and carry on with their existence with very few assets. This place can be specifically for them. As I would like to think, a tour in region will give an explorer an alternate sort of involvement.

Film city- The film city( Dadasaheb Phalke Chitra Nagri) is located in Goregaon. It is basically a studio complex with a lot of indoor studios, gardens ,temples, prisons, courts , railway stations, airports, beautifully decorated grounds, etc that contribute in the shooting of different scenes of films portraying very different places. The government of Maharashtra have arranged for tours guided by tour guides for the public costing around 650 per head. This place will definitely prove to be very fascinating to people who love bollywood artists and bollywood movies.
