Coronavirus -is it Affecting Medical Tourism Industry?

Spread the love

Covid19 situation has largely changed in China but for the rest of the world it is still a matter of concern. With the fastest growing numbers of coronavirus patients for countries like United States of America (USA), Italy, Spain, Germany, France, etc. it is becoming difficult to handle the scenario.

On 31st March 2020, there were8,76,345 confirmed cases globally with 43,250 deaths and 1,84,964 recoveries. It is very surprising that a country like USA is leading with the total 1,88,647 confirmed cases with more than 4000 deaths. World Health Organization (WHO) has already declared this coronavirus issue as a pandemic globally.

It is also important to note that a country like India with such a big population has less than 2000 confirmed cases in last 2 weeks. Though the precautionary measures at all the levels or lesser number of tests can be the reasons for this lower number. It is evident that all the countries in the world are in learning stage and trying all the means to control this Coronavirus pandemic. It is quite a challenging task for all the countries to find out the ways to save lives of the millions that may get affected in the coming future. It is time for everyone to come together and fight against this Coronavirus pandemic.

The coronavirus spread is found in all age groups. However the passage of last 2 to 4 weeks suggests that people aged 60+ are more prone to it. People with medical conditions like diabetes, cancer, cardio disease are at high risk too. The issue with the treatment is that due to the lockdown you cannot even travel far for it. The hospital available to your nearest location can help you. Since there is a travel block through all the countries and cities, you do not even have the chance of taking advantage of Medical Tourism for your treatment.

This virus is dangerous but for some it has mild symptoms making it difficult to detect at the right time. Globally, governments and airlines have stopped the services and no one can travel abroad. These restrictions have made the Medical Tourism industry suffer a lot.

The restrictions and virus fears have hit tourism hard, and medical tourism is expected to be hit the hardest. Most of the clinics and hospitals are dependent on the local patients; however, a few of them depend on medical tourism for their patients. There are also various medical tourism agencies working closely between the patients and medical professionals across the globe. Many hospitals are suffering due to this closure and small medical tourism agencies may even find it difficult to survive in this period if it is further extended.

Let us hope this period ends soon and people across the world are safe!
